Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan authorities said in a statement they will double the country’s intensive respiratory care beds, currently totaling 1640, including commandeering new spaces for treatment.

The head of the Moroccan government, Othmani Saadedine, said in a statement that 1330 more respiratory care beds will be available in the next few days.

This will bring the country’s intensive respiratory care beds capacity to 3000.

The number remains quite low in comparison to countries like Germany, which has made around 50,000 intensive care beds with respiratory capacity available throughout the country.
