Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Following COVID-19 having spread like wildfire in Ouarzazate’s local prison, with 290 inmates and personal contracting the novel coronavirus, Morocco’s General Directorate of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) said in a statement that further cases among the prison personnel of 3 other local prisons were reported.

the 3 prisons in question are Sale’s local prison, Tetoutan’s local prison, as well as Oujda’s local prison.

DGAPR said 2 cases in the “Salé 2” prison were confirmed, while one case was reported in each of the Tetouan and Oujda local prisons.

It is worth reminding that the DGAPR said last week it has started taking “random precautionary tests” among Morocco’s prison population in a bet to detect earlier COVID-19 cases across the kingdom prisons, in a bet to avoid an Ourazazate-like scenario.
