Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan journalists Souad Ouassif and her Cameraman Mohammed Bouljihal of Al Amazighia channel were assaulted and beaten by a Qaed in the Moroccan city of Tiflet.
Both were on duty, recording a documentary on a local market’s supply chain amid COVID-19.
Souad said the Qaed insulted her many times, including slapping her twice on her face.
Souad also said the Qaed and his aides tried to destroy her colleague’s camera, who confronted them, leading to an injury and bruises on his hand.
The Qaed’s first name is Aziz, Souad said.
In Morocco, a Qaed is the head of a Moroccan municipality. He is not elected, rather appointed directly by Morocco’s Ministry of Interior.
