Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The former Moroccan Minister of Health El Houssaine Louardi criticized the legislative decree No. 2.20.292, one that jails people who do not adhere to Morocco’s state of health emergency guidelines.

“Now in Morocco, there are more people arrested for violating the measures, than people infected with the novel coronavirus,” Louardi quipped.

“It does not make sense at all to jail a human being who transgressed the measures with the sole purpose to go out to look for food to eat,” Louardi added.

“Both the Moroccan government and the parliament need to take their responsibilities vis-à-vis this decree as they both approved it during the dire coronavirus juncture,” Louardi stressed.
