Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- While speaking in a plenary session in the Moroccan parliament, Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, announced that the ministry is working on completing the preliminary study of the tunnel project “Nafaq Tichka,” which will connect the cities of Marrakech and Ouarzazate.

The geophysical and complementary geotechnical studies will be carried out with a budget of 30 million Moroccan dirhams, according to the Moroccan Minister.

The minister highlighted that National Road 9, linking Marrakech and Ouarzazate, is undergoing safety improvement work along a total length of 177 kilometers, at a total cost of 1.8 billion dirhams as part of a program to improve road safety.

Baraka pointed out that the delay in completing the work was due to the termination of contracts by the company responsible for the work, as well as the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to rising prices of raw materials due to the global economic situation.
