Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to Moroccan news outlet Le360, the upcoming Aïd Al-Adha holiday will see Morocco importing 100.000 sheep, for the first time in the country’s history.
Despite having a surplus of local livestock that exceeds local demand, the move is intended to establish a reference price to stabilize the market against speculative behavior and rampant inflation.
Mohamed Karimine, President of the Interprofessional Federation of Red Meats predicted that prices would experience a 10 to 15% rise compared to the previous year.
