The “Moroccan Front for the Support of Palestine and Opposition to Normalization of Relations with Israel” is urging supporters of the Palestinian cause in the Moroccan Parliament to protest against the visit of Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset.

They have announced their intention to stage a demonstration outside the parliament during his visit.

The group already staged a protest yesterday, which saw around 300 to 500 people take part in the event.

Ohana’s visit is seen as a historic first by an Israeli official of his rank, aiming to enhance cooperation between Israel and Morocco.

The visit was made in response to an invitation from the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami.

As part of the visit, Ohana is expected to meet with his Moroccan counterpart, the Chairman of the Moroccan-Israeli Parliamentary Friendship Group, other representatives, senior Moroccan government officials, and leaders of the Jewish community.

They are expected to sign an official Memorandum of Understanding to bolster parliamentary cooperation.
