Shay Cohen, head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco, recently revealed Israel’s aspiration to establish a free trade agreement with Morocco. This proposed deal could generate up to a billion dollars annually within the span of three years. The announcement was made yesterday in Rabat.

The proposal was brought forth during a visit to Rabat by Israeli Economy Minister Neil Berkowitz. Cohen believes that initiating a free trade agreement with the Port of Tangier, the region’s largest port, could result in the aforementioned billion-dollar annual turnover within a few years.

Cohen noted that Israel presently exports 40 million dollars’ worth of goods to Morocco annually and imports goods worth 140 million dollars from the country.

It is worth reminding that in 2023 alone, economic exchanges between Israel and Morocco saw a 150% surge.
