International Conference on Fair Energy Transition in North Africa

An international conference on the ‘Fair Energy Transition’ has been held in Tangier. The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace hosted the event in partnership with the Observatory for the Protection of the Environment and Historical landmarks in Tangier.

Several topics were discussed, including the climate vulnerabilities in oil infrastructure, the economic and environmental challenges of North Africa, and the need for a diversity of resources and reduced fossil fuel dependence.

The conference concluded that Middle Eastern and North African countries derive 97% of their energy from fossil fuels and highlighted the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources.
