Huge Impact of Non-Communicable Diseases on Economy in Morocco

Health and Social Protection Minister, Khaled Ait Taleb, has confirmed that the economic burden of non-communicable diseases (NCD) is heavy in terms of productivity loss and treatment expenses, posing significant challenges to Morocco’s healthcare system and government budget.

He highlighted that NCD-related expenses represent 75% of total expenses for the two health insurance funds in Morocco.

Ait Taleb stressed that 4 types of NCD represent 5% of the aforementioned figures.
