After the recent waves of violence that have erupted in different universities of 5 cities, one of which led to the death of Abderrahim Hasnaoui, the Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Interior agreed on a new law that will counter said problem.
The two ministers issued a new bill which will allow local authorities to intervene inside universities in case public order or the lives of individuals are jeopardized.
Both Ministers were very clear in specifying that such bill will not give the authorities complete freedom to tamper with the immunity of universities, since they will have to consult with heads of universities and campuses.
According to Mohamed Hassad, Minister of Interior, deans and professors have welcomed such initiative, which was presented yesterday in front of the House of Councillors.
