Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- On the sidelines of a conference organized by the National Observatory for the Rights of Voters this Thursday in Rabat, the secretary-general of the Unified Socialist Party, said that “Morocco is no exception in the region as the Moroccan authorities are advancing,” stressing that the argument “Morocco is an exception in the region is a hoax.”

Nabila Mounib, the first woman to lead a major political party in Morocco, lambasted the Moroccan authorities “for their unwillingness to step forward towards a democratic Morocco.”

“The democratization process in Morocco is taking forever,” Mounib said.

“Yes there were some improvements on the human rights record as we don’t find anymore in Morocco torture centers like Tazmamart, but still Morocco is far behind in terms of democracy. The democratization process is very slow and at this rate it will take forever to have a fully-fledged democratic country,” Nabila stressed.
