Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- In an official document received by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, dated September 14, 2016, Jamaica declares that it has “decided to withdraw its recognition of the self-proclaimed “Sahraoui Arab Democratic Rebuplic” (SADR).

The official document reads that “Jamaica expresses its sincere hope that its position of neutrality and its continued support for the ongoing UN process will send a strong message that stands with the international community in its effort to achieve a just and peaceful solution to this protracted regional dispute. ”

According to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “since 2000, 34 countries have withdrawn their recognition of the puppet entity, including 9 states of the Caribbean.”

The decision of Jamaica to withdraw its recognition of the so called “sadr” – which it had recognized in September 1979 – will be duly notified to the United Nations, Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
