A communiqué from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Morocco will host from November 20-21st 2014, the 5th edition of the Prestigious Global Entrepreneurship Summit, under the theme “Harnessing the Power of Technology for Innovation and Entrepreneurship”
The communiqué said that the summit comes as a result of “the Royal visit conducted by His Majesty the King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco to Washington D.C in November 2013, President Obama and His Majesty convened to host the 5th Edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Morocco.”
Held for the first time in an Arab-African country, the selection of Morocco as host country reflects the active role Morocco plays in the overall economic development of the African continent, and the Kingdom’s leadership in supporting entrepreneurship, and the integration of youth and women into the economy.
The Kingdom of Morocco will seize the occasion to make the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 a call to action for global investors to finance start-ups and new ventures, with a strong emphasis on financing ventures for female entrepreneurs.
The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 will bring together over 3000 entrepreneurs, along with heads of State, high level government officials, global entrepreneurs, small-medium enterprises (SME’s), corporate leaders, and young entrepreneurs from around the globe.
The 5th Edition will showcase an ‘African Innovative Village’ where young African entrepreneurs will be able to promote their projects and share innovative solutions on various topics in order to foster dialogue and exchange ideas and innovative thinking.
The occasion of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit will be a moment of celebration and a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and experiences as well as an occasion for active debate around five main sub-themes: (i) Regional Integration, (ii) Sustainable Economic Growth, (iii) Social Innovation for Youth, (iv) Human Development, and (v) Migration.
In the spirit of fostering dialogue and exchange, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 will see the participation of prominent international speakers who will share their experiences and actively participate in discussions on the various sub-themes of the summit.
Launched in 2009 by US President Barack Obama, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit is a government-supported forum aimed at creating bridges between entrepreneurs, banks, venture capitalists, investors and others in the United States and Muslim communities around the world.
Today the Global Entrepreneurship Summit has become a platform for supporting entrepreneurship to help channel the creativity, innovation, and potential of millions of individuals around the world to create economic opportunity.
The inaugural Global Entrepreneurship Summit was held in Washington D.C in 2010 and was followed successively by editions held in Dubai, Istanbul, and Kuala Lumpur.
