Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hinted out yesterday that the U.S. is responsible for the current chasm in the MENA region as the Washington administration underestimated the steps it took in the region.

The situation in the Middle East may get out of control if it goes beyond international legal framework, Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

“What is happening in the Middle East and North Africa resulted from the fact that the US leadership underestimated those steps which Washington has been taking in this region for the last 10 to 12 years,” he said.

“We should combat terrorism, we are open for this and governments of regional countries are also ready for this,” the minister said, adding it’s important that no one be excluded from joint effort in this fight, TASS reported.

“Certainly, the situation may get out of control if this develops beyond an international legal framework. This is always fraught with risks,” Lavrov added.
