Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Nabila Mounib, a member of the Moroccan parliament, has spoken out against the government’s recent decision to withdraw its support and funding for the country’s health sector. According to Mounib, this decision was made under pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce public spending.

In a statement to the press, Mounib expressed concern about the government’s healthcare reform initiatives, particularly the creation of regional health groups that would be managed by directors with extensive authority. Mounib fears that this may lead to favoritism and corruption in the healthcare sector.

Mounib emphasized the importance of public healthcare and expressed that there should not be any liberal logic applied to its reform. She believes that the government should prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens above any external pressures or financial constraints.

Despite criticism, the Moroccan parliament recently approved five healthcare reform bills.
