Chicken Boycott Campaign Gains Momentum in Morocco as Prices Soar

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Various people are taking to social media to take part, at least virtually, in a campaign to boycott the purchase and consumption of chicken after prices rose to 25 dirhams per kilogram.

The campaign suggests that if people refrain from buying chicken for 10 to 20 days, the price will decrease.

“Boycott for 10 straight days, and the prices will drop to 10 dirhams,” reads one post.

Among the main reasons behind the increase is the high demand for chicken with the approach of summer.

Producers also say they are struggling with the increasingly high costs of feed.
