RABAT, Morocco – Moroccan Budget Minister Fouzi Lekjaa has announced the postponement of the Compensation Fund reform. During a plenary session in parliament yesterday, Lekjaa said the decision was driven by “current difficult circumstances.”

He pointed to increased inflation and the spiraling costs of basic goods. He noted that economic hurdles have been exacerbated by factors such as the Russian-Ukrainian war and a severe drought, both of which have contributed to sharp price increases in commodities.

However, the Minister assured the assembly that the reform had not been abandoned.

“The Compensation Fund reform will be initiated when the appropriate time comes,” said Lekjaa, emphasizing it was postponed in the face of the aforementioned rising global tensions and mounting local economic pressures.
