Private Primary Education on the Decline in Morocco: Ministry of National Education

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Enrollment in primary education in Morocco has risen by 1.5% this academic season, according to a report by the Ministry of National Education. The total number of enrolled students has surpassed 8.86 million, with females comprising 48.7% of the number.

Private primary education, on the other hand, has seen a decline of 3.2%, with the number of enrolled students decreasing from 230,251 to 222,795. The “unstructured” private primary education has also experienced a decrease, a significant one of approximately 19.4%, as the number of enrolled students has declined from 170,384 to 137,297.

Rural areas have experienced a 2.1% increase in enrollment, with a total of 3.527 million enrolled students. The number of enrolled students in primary education increased by 1.7%, reaching 931,393 students, with females accounting for approximately 49.5% of the total.

Public primary education, which is managed by academy partners under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, has witnessed a significant increase in demand, with registered children rising from 514,856 to 571,301, representing an increase of 11%.
