Morocco: 72.8% of Out-of-School, Out-of-Work Youth Are Women

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The High Commission for Planning in Morocco reported that in 2022, around 75% of people outside the labor force are women.

Among them, more than half have no education certificate, and around 80% live in urban areas.

The number of unemployed youth aged 15-24 is around 4.6 million, with 77% being students or housewives.

Shockingly, one out of four young people (aged 15-24) are neither employed nor in education or training, with 72.8% of them being women, 40.6% being married, and 68.2% having a certificate.

The youth unemployment rate in Morocco is 32.7%, which is much higher than the rate among adults aged between 24-44 (13.2%) and those aged 45 and above (3.3%). Additionally, the unemployment rate among young people with higher education degrees is the highest, reaching 61.4%.
