Morocco YouTuber Sentenced for Defamation Charges Against Mentally Disabled Young Man

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- A YouTuber from Imintanoute, a pocket city located 63 kilometers (39 miles) to the east of Agadir, towards the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, was sentenced by the primary court for defamation charges related to filming and distributing photos of a mentally disabled young man without his consent and using obscene language in a video.

The YouTuber was sentenced to one month of suspended jail, a fine of 1000 Moroccan dirhams, and ordered to pay 2000 Moroccan dirhams to the mentally ill person for civil damages.

Nevertheless, he was acquitted of human trafficking and public indecency charges.

The young man’s father had filed a complaint against the YouTuber for exploiting his son’s disability to create a buzz on Youtube.
