Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Nabila Mounib, secretary general of the PSU party, has raised serious concerns about what she deemed as “blatant violations” during the second phase of the housing scheme of Douar Imhijer in Skhirat. She has questioned Minister of the Interior Abdelouafi Laftit about the “use of violent and inhumane methods” to demolish shanty houses, which has left various people “vulnerable and without shelter.”

Mounib also warned about “the violent manner in which the inhabited houses were demolished, with no regard for human conditions and outside of any civilized dialogue or communication with those concerned to protect their rights, their social status, and their children’s educational rights.”

She has stressed “the importance of preserving the dignity and well-being of the affected citizens and ensuring that their fundamental rights are respected.”

Mounib has also shed light on the issue of non-qualified citizens being introduced among the residents of the shanty houses, in a bet to benefit corruptingly from prospective social housing, and has suggested that the authorities may have manipulated the situation to their advantage.
