The Minister for Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, Awatif Hayar, announced on Monday a notable increase in divorce cases in Morocco in recent years. Intriguingly, she stated that a significant 80 percent of these cases are mutual divorces.

During a Q&A session in the House of Representatives, Hayar provided a comprehensive explanation of the government’s efforts in addressing this societal issue. She said, “We’ve initiated the Family Bridge program, designed to support families in navigating and circumventing divorce-related issues. The program introduces family mediation and encourages families, even before marriage, to embrace the concept of shared parental responsibility.”

The Minister underscored the importance of a healthy upbringing for children, and promoting respect and the practice of gender equality within family structures.
