MP Fatima Tamini, from the Democratic Left, voiced her strong disapproval of the visit of Israeli Knesset Speaker, Amir Ohana, to Morocco.

His forthcoming visit is set to take place upon the invitation of Rachid Talbi Alami, the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives.

Firstly, Tamni expressed “dissatisfaction with the lack of communication leading up to this visit,” as she and her “fellow council members were not consulted and only learned about it [the visit] through the media.”

Tamni, representing her political faction and others who oppose Morocco’s normalization of relations with Israel like the PJD and the PPS, emphasized their view of “the Palestinian cause as a deeply rooted national issue.”

She argues that “the proposed normalization of relations with Israel does little to advance the Palestinian cause.”

Furthermore, she affirmed “unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people.”

According to her, this includes “their undeniable right to return to their homeland and the establishment of an independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.”
