According to the Moroccan paper Al Akhbar, Thami Kouchou, head of the Oulad Zbir community in Taza, and member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Kouchou was convicted on charges of embezzlement, squandering public funds, and abuse of power.

Misrepresentation by media outlet Al-Akhbar (featured image) initially led readers to believe that Kouchou was affiliated with the Justice and Development Party, due to the religious appearance portrayed in the article’s image, triggering various members of the PJD to criticize Rachid Nini and his paper on social media platforms, with some calling it a “propaganda machine.”

Rachid Nini, Al Akhbar’s editor-in-chief, consistently expresses strong opposition towards the PJD party in his publications.
