Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s Observatory of Tourism said that 6 million tourists visited Morocco in the first half of 2016, recording a light 0.1% increase compared to figures for the same period of 2015.

The observatory said that the number of foreign tourists decreased by 4.3% while the number of Moroccans living abroad saw an increase of 4.7%.

Even though Morocco is the only North African country to not have witnessed any terrorist attack after the adoption of the 2011 Arab-spring-pushed constitution, the number of foreign tourists has been decreasing significantly.

This is mainly due to the mainstream European mentality that associates terrorism to the whole North African region, not to specific countries per-se.
