Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan government unveiled this week plans to build a multidisciplinary university in the Moroccan city of Al Hoceima, stressing that negotiations to acquire a 50 ha field, where the university will be build, is in its final stages.
According to the Moroccan government, a new campus belonging to the well-known business institution “Ecole Nationale De Commerce et de Gestion” will be built in Al Hoceima as well, including a student dormitory.
It is worth reminding that the building of a multidisciplinary university was one of the main three demands of the Rif protesters.
The protesters were asking the Moroccan authorities to meet 3 urgent demands to go back home: 1- building a cancer center in Alhoceima as statistically 70% of all Moroccan cancer patients are from the Rif region, 2 – building a multidisciplinary university in Al Hoceima, 3- demilitarizing the Rif region as according to locals, this repels investors from the region; ergo less job opportunities for Rifis.
