Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s General Directorate of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) said in a communiuqé shared yesterday that 189 inmates in the Ouarzazate prison have completely recovered from COVID-19.
DGAPR also said that 36 other inmates have tested positive, taking the total amount of inmates that have been infected with the novel coronavirus in the Ouarzazate prison to 277.
Regarding the prison personal, DGAPR said 48 have fully recovered from a total of 63.
The local prison of Ouarzazate has turned into a hotspot of COVID-19 infections two weeks ago, but the situation is now under control.
The head of the prison was sacked for his “dereliction of duty and negligence” in controlling the pandemic and adopting the right measures that would keep the virus at bay.
Ouarzazate is well known around the world as a shooting location. Various scenes from Prison break season 5 were filmed in Ouarzazate.
