Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s head of government Saadedine El Othmani said a few minutes ago that Morocco’s nationwide coronavirus curfew, referred to as “state of health emergency” by the authorities, will be extended until June 10.

This is the second time the Moroccan government extends the curfew since the start of the outbreak in Morocco.

Othmani shared the news amid a joint parliamentary session between the parliament’s two houses.

A number of governmental sources have confirmed yesterday that the government decided to extend the quarantine for an additional period.

Fears were raised vis-a-vis relaxing the measures a few days before Eid Al-Fitr, with health experts warning that many people will visit family and friends during this special day, which may have dire consequences in terms of the spread of the virus.

No change has been made regarding the anti-coronavirus measures taken amid the spread of the pandemic in the country.
